Nigel buys Wessex Studio from & Sir George Martin, producer of the Beatles. The space was originally a Victorian church named St. Augustine’s, built in 1881. He inherits the legacy left by Queen and King Crimson. Rumour has it that one of the confessionals was converted to a sound booth resulting in a spritely combination of prayer and music.

Nigel continues to develop emerging talent. The Sugababes become a huge UK success. Noted for their legendary catfights and #1 hits, they bring lots of school girl pop energy to Matrix.

Matrix moves to its current location by New King’s Road in Parsons Green. Nigel gets inspired by the US’s historical “Tin Pan Alley” and pivots to create a co-working space for his music industry pals.

Matrix Wifi gets a huge upgrade. All 17 users can download at the same time.

Matrix becomes the official hang out for Simon Cowell’s X Factor crowd. Courtyard is filled with the soon-to-be-famous.

Music management, licensing firms and band merch businesses set up shop alongside the recording studios. A new community is born. The Matrix café serves the most creative coffee in town.

Mezzo-soprano and grime meet under one roof. Adele and Stormzy both record major albums at Matrix. No, he did not wear his Banksy Union Jack vest to the studio. Yes, he did bring his two massive Rottweiler security dogs with him.

Fast forward. Nigel brings on partners to take Matrix Parsons Green to the next level. The infamous plastic ivy, tropical conference room and 1970s style bathrooms don’t make the cut.
